JUDE HARZER FINE ART

When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.”~ Paul Coelho

A young and vital child knows no limit to his own will, and it is the only reality to him. It is not that he wants at the outset to fight other wills, but that they simply do not exist for him. Like the artist, he goes forth to the work of creation, gloriously alone.

Thank You

I give thanks everday for the opportunity to freely pursue my dreams. I am conscious and grateful for every moment that I live, love, learn and grow. My life is pure abundance! But on this day, I am especially appreciative of all of the people who have graced my life with love, support and kindness. It is for them that I am most grateful on this Thanksgiving Day! You take my breath away:)Robert's Thanksgiving has had an especially sweet start as he is at this moment out on the ocean, off the coast of Pt. Pleasant Beach, fishing for striped bass!

There is a French proverb that says, "Gratitude is the memory of the heart." My mind often dismisses the details of the business of daily life, but my heart remembers well...the kindness, love and generosity of others.I always have a grateful heart:)
Thank You, thank you!

The Fine Art of Fishing

Despite my protests and that of my friend, Andrea,to our sons, warning them of approaching "Hurricane Bill" and the danger of a whipping up of the waters at the Jersey shore, Robert and Danny insisted that they would brave the ocean. "No" didn't seem to be an option for them as they desperately wanted to go tuna fishing with their friend, Peter, a licensed captain, 50 miles off the coast of Long Beach Island, NJ on Thursday.I actually was quite confident that they would be safe and admired their lack of fear. Robert has aspirations of studying marine biology and works and hangs regularly off Casino Pier in Seaside Hts.and off the inlet at Manasquan and Pt. Pleasant Beach. They are his neighborhood "playground."So any experience in and on the water, is valuable.

The boys spent the entire day off the coast and successfully caught tuna and other fish to use as shark bait. Robert caught a 90 lb. bluefin and Danny an 80 lb.one. Aside from Danny's bout of seasickness, these beach boys, fared well and we will be eating tuna for more than a few meals. Last night Robert and I enjoyed the first sampling of it. Awesome!

So Robert once again requested that I consider painting fish. He likens his love for fishing to my love for art:)I definitely appreciate that we share a similar sense of inspiration and passion...and if he continues to supply me with fresh fish, he and I just might be able to work something else. Tuna as subject matter? Hmmm...we'll see!

Go Fish!

Dream Series: painting in process

My dining room art studio is reflective of my recent state of mind...overloaded,noisy,chaotic and colorful:) I won't post images of the absence of any clear horizontal surfaces. I have spent weeks, sorting and searching and how funny that I return to my most treasured sources of inspiration. Every square inch of my work will forever be inspired by memories and dreams. I haven't painted much this past month and a half but when I began this week, my son came over, paused to see my subject matter and then commented," Joe(his most recent term of endearment for me),just paint some damn fish!" He is fresh but also ridiculously funny! :) and despite the fact that he may be right in terms of me creating something specifically to "sell", I think I will stick to what I do best. I love my dreams and after the weekend I will post news of upcoming exhibits. There are several!:)
Do what you love and success is sure to follow!Of course that depends on your concept of "success" (i.e. happiness). So basically, I get to dream and paint...lol...not a bad gig:)

True Love

True love is knowing best the people that you love....so for Valentine's Day,what better gift could Robert receive, than a freshwater fishing license and a trout stamp pass? Pure bliss!

New Works Inspired by Robert Christian

Robert inspires me everyday. Mostly because of his humor, warmth and his selection of names by which he addresses me: Llama, Joey, and Bra have been replaced in recent weeks by "J-money". He is a funny kid. I love his spirit and his confidence.
Robert and Christina are fortunate to have grown up at the Jersey shore. Not only do they live here, they have enjoyed and embraced their environment. Robert' s passion for fishing, boating and more recently, diving and spearfishing, are fascinating to me. Some of my recent works are in celebration of my son and his continual effort to find his own unique voice.
I intend to paint a series which include fish. The above image is entitled,"Hooked." It will soon be available to purchase as a print. Currently Robert works at Casino Fishing Pier in Seaside Heights, NJ. Click on the above images to see where he spends his days.
