JUDE HARZER FINE ART

When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.”~ Paul Coelho

A young and vital child knows no limit to his own will, and it is the only reality to him. It is not that he wants at the outset to fight other wills, but that they simply do not exist for him. Like the artist, he goes forth to the work of creation, gloriously alone.

One Sweet Love: Wildflower Paintings

Although I enjoyed my time away and the warmth of the weather while on vacation, I yearned (yes yearned:) to return to my studio and to my work. And so last night I began again to paint, collage, sketch and scrape. Recycled wood is my preferred substrate material. The texture ,taste and "nature" of love will always inspire my work. This is a work in process. This is actually a single composition, hinged in the center. The portrait falls to the right. It is a rough underpainting and collage. Oh how I missed the smell of my materials.

  1. There's no place like home, is there? Especially when our art itself has that essence that we love to return to. Enjoyed browsing here, much happy painting and creating to you!

  2. Dear Joanne,
I waited nearly 20 years to paint while raising children and attending to the business of life. I am most "at home" in my studio and feel as though I have saved an abundance of ideas and memories, rich with love and passion, that NEED to be made manifest on canvas. I enjoy and appreciate every moment when I have the opportunity to create! Thank you so much for your comments. I hope that your writing continues to bring you great pleasure and fulfillment.Happy 2010!
